Our Story
EJ and Laiza’s plot twist happened around the last week of September 2018.
We know what you’re thinking: “Aren’t they getting married around that same date, seven years later?” Yup, both of them had realized that as they were writing this. It feels like God and their fate have been putting all the subtle details in their heads, leading to decisions that seem to be carefully laid out in their lives’ masterplan.
But let’s not get sidetracked. Let’s drill down into the juicy details of that one fateful September day that marked the beginning of our protagonists’ colorful journey in love.
EJ and Laiza were teammates at work. As they were both busy with their own separate lives, they had no time to think about the possibility of being together. They would only see each other at the office, speak mostly about work, and occasionally about personal stuff. Until one night during EJ’s solo travel abroad, he suddenly thought of Laiza while he was aboard a bus going to a night market. He thought, “Maybe, I would enjoy this trip even more if Laiza was with me.”
In an instant, that single thought ignited in EJ a sense of longing towards someone he never imagined he would deeply care for. Fate was playful. The realization came at the most unexpected moment, in the most unexpected part of the world.
And so he made a crucial decision that signaled the beginning of a roller coaster ride.
On that sunny day in September 2018, the four corners of their office bore witness to EJ’s bold attempt at marking a space in Laiza’s heart. And we reveal below our protagonists’ exchange and thoughts.
Long story short, that wasn’t the right moment for them to set sail and head towards unchartered territory.
In the succeeding months, they focused on their individual lives, thinking they would never again entertain the idea of a brewing love between them. They took some detours and enjoyed experiences either by themselves or with their respective friends and loved ones. Maybe it was in those individual pursuits that they realized just how much they desired to be in each other’s presence. So when they finally arrived at love’s destination, everything felt meant-to-be.
They went on coffee dates and wine nights. Munched on chips while getting competitive at games. The dates were sometimes low key, other times fancy, but always happy.
And on September 26, 2025, they will sail away to the married life journey where they will forever bask in more shared moments and cherished memories.
